Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Let’s kick off the proceedings with this pic of Jennifer Aniston looking fly as fuck.
I’ve always been an Aniston fan and I’ve gotta say, I’m only loving her more as she matures. She is a whole vibe.
I really enjoyed this interview with her for The Hollywood Reporter and now I just want to be friends with her. All praises due to women who buck the system by being single and child-free in their 50s, with two middle fingers up at society, while living their best lives. WE FRIKKIN’ LOVE TO SEE IT.
Things that caught my eye this week
As we are about to head into the season of people reigniting their commitments to fitness, I found this to be a super important read. We do not talk about mobility enough. We don’t talk about how it is the key to healthy movement and avoiding pain. We really should focus on it more. I say this as someone who works in fitness and has gone pretty hell for leather for years at a time. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have noticed me getting into my hot pilates bag recently and trying to find different ways to move my body. My downtime often sees me working on basic mobility exercises.
It’s something we all need to think about, especially as we age. I remember growing up, seeing my grandmother riddled with arthritis and how much pain that gave her. I do not want to end up like that. My goal is to be able to move my body with ease for as long as I possibly can. Putting those measures in place now and treating my body with the love and respect it deserves is bound to help me achieve that goal.
Food for thought
No can be a complete sentence.
Your boundaries are valid.
People who don’t respect them are not your people.
You deserve peace. You deserve for things to sit right in your soul.
No matter how hard people try to blur your edges, stand firm in your desires. Re-draw and reiterate your lines however many times you need to. You put those boundaries in place for a reason. Each time you enforce them, you are honouring yourself. You get a little stronger, a little braver, a little more resolute.
Your mind, your body, your soul - that is your being, your home. And it is so precious. Not everyone deserves access to it. So draw your boundaries unashamedly, enforce them confidently and defend them rigorously.
You should subscribe to the paid version of The Murmuration because…
On Monday’s paid edition of The Murmuration, I’m talking about how healing isn’t linear. If you’re on your own healing journey and have been surprised by the amount of white knuckling you’ve been doing on this wild roller coaster ride, I’m here to say, same girl, same.
So how do we stay the course, commit to the process and resist the urge to just become hermits, full of rage and resentment? I’ll dig into it on Monday!
Your weekly Biggie Smalls (P)update
