Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with Claudia Sheinbaum, who has just taken office as Mexico’s new President and first female leader. She an environmental scientist and former mayor of Mexico City. While I’m sure she has an uphill battle ahead, I am happy whenever I see women in positions of power that we have been traditionally kept out of.
Her being in charge makes me want to learn more about Mexican politics. Here’s hoping this is the start of a new wave of female world leaders coming into play.
Things that caught my eye this week
Gah, this piece cut right to my guts. An exploration of our inability to ever switch off, how everything being measurable, comparable and stat-ified, has somewhat stripped creatives of the joy of their process. I think no matter what field you’re in, you can relate to this new model of the feeling of constant productivity being needed, and our insatiable desire for reassurance, feedback, praise being a blessing and a curse. It is well worth a read. Dive in.
Food for thought
I know it seems insurmountable. I know it seems like you’ll never figure it out, you’re not ready, you can’t do it. But you don’t need to achieve it immediately, right this second. You might not know how to do it, but I guarantee you know how to do one of the small steps that will get you there. So, do that one. Then figure out how to do the next one. And on and on it goes. Until one day, you’ve achieved the thing that not-so-long ago, seemed insurmountable.
Stop cutting yourself off before you’ve even tried.
You should upgrade to the paid edition of The Murmuration because….
On Monday’s edition of The Murmuration, I’m going to be talking about forgiveness. I think a major part of any healing journey is the ability to forgive ones self. I have recently had quite a break through in being able to forgive myself for certain parts of my life, particularly around relationships. I think age, time and distance have played a huge part in this. Upgrade your subscription to find out what journal prompts helped with the breakthrough.
