Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with Adolescence basically BECAUSE I CAN’T THINK ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE SINCE WATCHING IT. I’m sure I’m not the only one. What an incredible piece of work. What a chilling indictment of the Manosphere pipeline; how early these young boys are seeing this messaging and the devastating consequences it can lead to. There’s too much to praise about it; every single actor blew it out of the water, the writing, the sheer insanity of each episode being done in one take. This is art. I’ve seen so much discourse about it online, but I hope it leads to the deep and meaningful conversations where they need to happen; with the young people just trying to navigate an already difficult part of life, who now have to deal with this added sinister element.
If you’re a parent of a young teen, I’d love to hear the conversations you’ve been having with your kids since watching the series. Let me know in the comments.
Things that caught my eye this week
I listened to the Lucky Boy podcast and I highly recommend it. It covers the case of a boy who was in a sexual relationship with his female teacher when he was 14/15 (or to frame that correctly: he was being sexually abused by his teacher). He is now 50 years old and the repercussions of that experience have basically devastated his life. This is such an interesting perspective, firstly, from a male abuse victim at the hands of a woman (which we don’t often hear), but also the extent to which people will go to cover these things up and how his school peers viewed the whole thing. Even how these grown men talk about it now with the benefit of hindsight and a culture that defines much more clearly what abuse is, none of them view it as such. They all just thought he was a ‘lucky boy’. Sigh. It’s a depressing but really interesting listen.
Food for thought
You can’t let fear continue to keep you in a holding pattern. You just have to dive in there and swim around, time and time again, until what was once panic-inducing, becomes comfortable. No amount of thinking about it gets you there. It’s pure action. Repeatedly. There’s a part of you, inside, that wants to protect you from any perceived harm. But sometimes you’ve gotta square up to her, let her know what’s what, tell her ‘girl, we got shit to do!’ and give her a piggy back as you march right on, through your fear and into your victory.

Because it’s my birthday on Sunday, so in Monday’s letter, I’m reflecting on what I want life to look like for me at this phase, having racked up 44 years of life. What’s next? What are the principles that’ll guide me at this stage? It feels like there are so many knowns and unknowns and so much I want to do - and I kinda don’t know what any of that’ll look like, which for once in my life, I’m not freaking out about.
Anyway, join me on Monday for a look at life at 44.

Your weekly Biggie Smalls (p)Update
This week, Biggie is devastated to report that apparently, burying your head in the sand (or on the sofa), does not, in fact, make your work load go away. It unfortunately will still be there waiting for you when you get up. So, the sooner you get up, the sooner it gets done. An outrageous discovery.
Until next week; smile at strangers, spread good vibes, be nice to people.
