Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with Michelle Yeoh’s Oscar win for best actress this past weekend, making her the first Asian woman to win that honour.
I’d just like to point out that in big 2023, people of the global majority being the first to win things is actually insane. Like sure, it’s worthy of celebration, but it’s also shameful that creative industries (all industries really) have kept Black, Brown and Asian people out of positions that create these opportunities.
I’d also like to just give a big FUCK YEAH to the part in her speech when she said ‘Ladies, don’t ever let anyone tell you you’re past your prime.’ I felt that in my chest.
Things that caught my eye this week
I’ve avoided stuff about Andrew Tate for so long - anytime I’ve seen things pop up about him on my timeline, the content inevitably gives me the rage. This article on his history is an insightful read. How does an absolutely raging misogynistic asshole come to be a raging misogynistic asshole? It’s interesting how the article tracks him becoming who he is now. And basically, yikes.
Food For Thought
How many times in your life have you told yourself you can’t do something without ever even trying? It’s not that you can’t do it, it’s that you’re not willing to put yourself through the discomfort, effort and potential set backs that come with learning how. It’d be a damn shame for you to go through life leaving a bunch of potential on the table just ‘cause you didn’t want to try. Take a baby step and get going. It comes together quicker than you think.

Your Weekly Biggie Smalls (P)update
This week, Biggie would like to remind you to always make time to play. It’s important. Sure, he doesn’t have much else on his agenda but he still feels this is a very valid point.
Until next week; smile at strangers, spread good vibes, be nice to people.
