Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with Molly Bloom. You may be familiar with her from the movie Molly’s Game, which was based on her life. (Also, quick sidebar: talk about hitting the jackpot if you get the absolute smoke show that is Jessica Chastain to play you in a movie. Whew! The excellence!)
Anyway, I listened to an interview with her on the Diary of a CEO podcast last week and it was super inspiring. Talk about someone who has really picked themselves up from rock bottom and found her way. If you’re in need of an uplifting story today, take a listen.
Things that caught my eye this week
This piece from Naomi Klein about constantly being confused with Naomi Wolf and the really conflicting feelings that brings up is a worthwhile read. An exploration of the concept of a doppelganger, this line, in particular, stood out to me:
And aren’t so many of us tangled up in versions of this impulse, pouring so much time, energy, and money into perfecting, optimizing, and defending our most consumable selves, despite knowing how many more pressing crises deserve our attention?
Whew. Yeah. Relatable.
Food for thought
Do not go back. Do not be tempted. You’ve come too far. Don’t be dragged into the fray, don’t be swayed into behaviours and a way of thinking you’ve been working hard to outgrow. That’s not you now.
Yes, it’s comfortable there. But it’s only comfortable because it’s familiar, not because it’s where you’re meant to be.
Keep your eyes on the truth, the freedom, the integrity of where you’re heading. That place is so much more worth of your energy.
