Happy Thursday and Happy New Year, ya beauties!
Kicking off the year with Simone Biles, who rightfully landed Sports Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the Year for 2024.
She’s the most decorated gymnast of all time, her performances routinely leave us awe struck, she flies through the air and seems to achieve the impossible every time. She took a step back from her career a couple of years ago and prioritised her mental health, then came back at the Paris Olympics last year and dominated as if no time had passed.
A testament to excellence and mastering your craft.
Ms Biles, we salute you!
Things that caught my eye this week
THIS STORY IS INSANE! It’s about a woman in the States who was accused of deepfaking some images of teenagers, charged and run through the ringer, only for the images to have turned out to not have been deepfaked at all. The whole tale takes you on a JOURNEY, lemme tell ya! And it raises so many questions about how frequently we’ll see claims of deepfakes as technology advances, how does someone rebuild their life after false accusations and how come those who make false accusations never face any consequences. This case has my head spinning!
Food for thought
I know it’s all New Year vibes and big ‘can do’ energy, but just a reminder: you don’t have to do it all right now. If you have things you want to achieve this year, cool - you have the year to do them. If you don’t have anything big on the agenda, also cool. There are some years in life that don’t move the needle that much and that’s OK. Revel in just being. Either way, take your time.
You should upgrade to the paid version of The Murmuration because…
In Monday’s letter, I’m talking about how I intend to strip things back to basics this year and make sure that I’m enjoying the ride. While the New Year is always full of hope and big goals and dreams, it can also come with pressure and timelines. Ultimately, I’m not actually aiming to achieve anything this year, and that’s kind of big for me.

Your weekly Biggie Smalls (P)Update
This week, Biggie would like to remind you that much like the variety of his toys, you always have options. Never think you must stick with the tennis ball if the Kong lights you up more. Dog wisdom is really something else, eh?
