Happy Thursday, beloveds!
Kicking it off this week with this incredible shot of the awesome talent that is, Ms Issa Rae. The whole photoshoot for Edition Modern Luxury is amazing and the accompanying article is most definitely worth a read. I believe the final episode of Insecure is this week, *single tear* I have really loved that series. Excited to see what Issa Rae does next.
Things that caught my eye this week
We all bandy the word ‘rest’ around like crazy, but I was surprised to learn this week, via this article, that there are actually seven different types of rest. I had never considered that. It’s an interesting read and I think I’ll be picking up the book, Sacred Rest, that details these principles to learn more.
Food for thought
There’s likely a thing in your life you’ve been putting off or won’t even entertain, because of fear. Your brain keeps going to the worst case scenario. Those scenarios usually fall into two camps; what if I fail? Or what if I make a fool of myself?
I guess today I’d just like to ask you, yeah, so what? So what if those things happen? I’m sure you’ve both failed at something and made a fool of yourself at some point in your life and yet here you are, still living and breathing. Soooo…? *shrugs* Why are we still letting those particular fears hold us back when we already have ample proof that we can survive them?
I’d rather risk either of those things than never attempt something and always wonder what could have been. That frustrated, stuck, anxious, jittery feeling you’re carrying around while you delay the decision to try - you want that for the rest of your life? Whew! I’ll pass, thanks.
The fear is there for a reason. It’s not to deter you from doing the thing. If anything, it’s to let you know you’re on the edge of a breakthrough.
Ovary up! Try the thing. Take the leap. Do the dance.
You are worth the effort.
