Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Listen, at this point, this might actually just be a dedicated Angela Bassett newsletter from this point forward.
To quote the popular meme du jour; “Angela Bassett did the thing.”
And didn’t she just!
I don’t even know if she won anything here. I don’t care. She should win everything forever. Flawless. An icon. Serving hair, face, body and couture.
Angela Bassett is 64 years old.
And time no longer makes sense.
Thank you and good night.
Things That Caught My Eye This Week
In my most recent paid newsletter, I was talking about craving sisterhood and this article is a good companion piece to that - all about the lost art of just hanging out. A good spontaneous, agenda-less hang is a hard thing to come by these days and it’s interesting to read how that might’ve happened.
Food for Thought
Comparison, as they say, is the thief of joy. It’s also halting your progress. If you’re constantly spending time comparing where you’re at in life in relation to someone else, that’s time you could’ve spent on helping yourself progress. You can drive yourself nuts wondering how they did it, let resentment brew that it’s not you, dismiss their achievements ‘cause it hasn’t happened for you, but meanwhile, you’re still where you’re at, treading water. You can either choose to be inspired by it and let it fuel you or you can just quite literally mind your business. Invest that energy, attention and effort back into you and your goals will be achieved a helluva lot quicker.
You Should Subscribe to the Paid Version of The Murmuration because…
On Monday’s paid version of The Murmuration, I’m talking about having a career in fitness as an older instructor. It’s very odd to be 41 and referring to yourself as an ‘older’ anything, but here we are. I love my chosen career in fitness, but I find myself in a weird position of not really having any examples of how my career progresses from here. I don’t know that many spin or group fitness instructors over 40. It’s a young business, but with an increasingly ageing clientele. So, how do you carve your path and stand in your worth, in a society that devalues everything to do with ageing? Subscribe and discuss with me on Monday.
Your Weekly Biggie Smalls (P)update
This week, Biggie would like to remind you that while you may feel like life’s sticks are too big sometimes, you won’t know until you try to pick it up and run with it. According to Biggie, you are capable of finding and carrying bigger sticks that you know. He’s so young, yet so wise.

If you struggle with confidence, pick up The High Five Habit by Mel Robbins. Super easy read with lots of quotables that will give you the pick-me-up you’re looking for on any given day.
I haven’t bought an expensive perfume in a long time, ‘cause I am OBSESSED with this body spray and can’t envision myself wearing any other scent ever. Brazilian Crush Pistachio & Salted Caramel Perfume Mist is *chef’s kiss* and I am constantly being complimented on how good I smell. The big bottle is $50 Canadian doll hairs and lasts a long ass time.
Until next week; smile at strangers, spread good vibes, be nice to people.
