Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week paying homage to the recently departed Betty White. The Golden Girl passed on this past week, having lived 99 grand years. May we all be so lucky. Reading tributes to her by those who knew her has been lovely. I hope she rests easy knowing she brought joy to so many.
Things That Caught My Eye This Week
Writer, Joan Didion passed away just before Christmas (I’m hoping this newsletter doesn’t end up reading like the Obit page of a paper every week, but alas, the festive season took some of the greats). This essay On Self Respect makes a wonderful read.
“To have that sense of one's intrinsic worth which, for better or for worse, constitutes self-respect, is potentially to have everything: the ability to discriminate, to love and to remain indifferent. To lack it is to be locked within oneself, paradoxically incapable of either love or indifference.”
Food For Thought
You are not your past. You are not your worst mistake. You are not that embarrassing incident that plays on a loop in your head. Close your eyes. Take a big inhale and exhale. Feel into all your wonderfulness. You are surrounded by greatness all the time. You embody it. Let yourself show it. Let yourself be it. Look in the mirror and remind yourself what a bad bitch you are. You bring joy. Your energy is needed. And your ass looks great.
I hope you weren’t thinking of dimming your light today.
Go out there and shine babe.
You Should Subscribe to the Paid Version of The Murmuration Because…
In Monday’s paid edition, we’ll be talking about those stories we tell ourselves that hold us back. Oh yeah, it’ll be confronting, it’ll be uncomfortable, you’ll recognise yourself in some of it for sure and I may well personally hand you the lighter to ignite that fire under your ass. It takes courage to start unraveling that story and doing the work to build yourself a new one that can get you where you want to go. But you know, top of a new year feels like a good time to smash some old shit up.
Your Weekly Biggie Smalls (P)update
This week, Biggie wants to remind you that it’s OK if you still feel like this six days into the New Year.
Until next week, smile at strangers, spread good vibes, be nice to people.
