Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with a shout out to comedian, Hannah Gadsby. This piece she wrote about her autism diagnosis is beautiful and raw, educational and insightful. As I was reading it, I realised I’ve never really heard autism discussed in this way and with more and more people 30+ being diagnosed as being on the spectrum, it seems really important that these conversations are happening openly.
Things that caught my eye this week
This article about losing ambition gave me much food for thought. I definitely understand the perspective of priorities having shifted through the pandemic and how it shone a light on the workload of women in being staff members, mothers, fully functioning humans and shouldering way more than our fair share of the load. I must say right now I probably feel more ambitious than ever - probably more so in light of my personal circumstances than any shift in perspective due to the pandemic, though I’m interested to see if/when/how that might change for me as time goes on.
Food for thought
Stop playing small. Stop dimming your light. Stop shrinking yourself. Stop apologising. Stop shrugging off compliments. Stop ignoring your accomplishments. Stop downplaying how badass you ass. Stop thinking simply being comfortable with how insanely awesome you are makes you cocky. It does not. Stop biting your tongue. Stop feeling like you’re too much. Stop concerning yourself with the minds of people who aren’t in the arena with you. You have bigger shit to do. And it requires you to be at your biggest.
So go do it.
You should subscribe to the paid version of The Murmuration because…
In Monday’s paid edition of The Murmuration I’m talking about learning to claim my power back, set my boundaries and refusing to shrink myself, but mainly how I wish this for all women because WHEW! The liberation is real!
Your weekly Biggie Smalls (P)update
This week, Biggie would like to encourage you to take an evening stroll, just as dusk is about to hit maybe and just keep walking as the sky changes and the sunset kicks in. He says it’s pretty damn good for the soul. (Carrying a stick while doing it: optional)
Until next week; smile at strangers, spread good vibes, be nice to people.
