Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with this picture that went viral last week of strollers left at the Polish border for refugees leaving Ukraine. This hit me right in the gut and made me think of women all over the world fleeing war, or domestic violence. What an immense privilege it is to wake up without war on your doorstep. I find myself having these conflicting feelings of being both incredibly sad for the people of Ukraine and what they’re going through, and somewhat annoyed that we don’t see this global outpouring of care when war is raging through countries inhabited by black and brown people. *Deep heavy sigh*
Things that caught my eye this week
I really enjoyed this piece about how to support a friend who’s struggling. I’m sure we’ve all experienced needing to be the supportive friend over the last couple of years especially. This article gives some really sound advice and I learned a lot.
Food for Thought
You can change your mind any time. You can course correct when you feel you’re heading in the wrong direction. No matter how much you want to travel in said direction, how much work you put into planning to get to the destination, if it doesn’t feel right, if it unsettles your soul, stop, reassess and redirect if you need to. Don’t be so married to a plan that you refuse to see when it’s not working. It may be that you need to simply think about other routes, or perhaps you have to change the destination altogether - neither is a sign of failure.

On Monday’s paid version of the newsletter, I’m talking about getting back into salsa, what it takes to take the leap into building a social life in a new place, the anxiety of being social during a pandemic (even though they’re trying to convince us we’re not in one anymore), and how it’s important to embrace being bad at things before you can get good.
