Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with Donna Jean Wilde, a grandmother from Alberta, Canada, who at the age of 59, has set the new world record for planking. She held that plank position (you know, the one that us mere mortals start shaking after holding for 30 seconds) for FOUR HOURS, THIRTY MINUTES AND ELEVEN SECONDS.
Sweet Mother o’ Mary! That is some STRENGTH! I am so here for women over 40 breaking barriers, showing up in their full badassery. Truly inspiring to see. All this chatter of your body falling to bits once you hit 30 - girl, please. Donna Jean Wilde would like to have a fucking word!
Things that caught my eye this week
If you’re a bit of a podcast nerd like me, you likely already know that the new season of Serial is out. Serial, of course, when it first launched about 10 years ago, changed the podcasting landscape with the story of Adnan Syed, who had been convicted of the murder of his high school girlfriend. There have been a million Serial-format copycats in podcast land since.
Their new season looks at Guantanamo Bay and Holy Moses is it ever mind blowing. Sarah Koenig is an exceptionally talented journalist and story teller.
Food for thought
If you think you don’t matter, consider this your reminder that someone, somewhere is thinking about you at this very moment. They’re remembering a conversation with you and smiling. Someone, somewhere, is doing something with their life because you inspired them to, without even knowing it. Someone right now is wishing they could be spending time with you because your presence lights them up. You are a person who has made countless people’s days better.
Thank you for being you.
Can you help me out?
As you may or may not know, I launched my business, STUDIO BANGS, back in December. I’m looking to really get to know the type of woman who would use this service. If you are a woman between 38-55, into fitness, lead an active lifestyle and either currently do, or would like to, attend online fitness classes, I would love it if you could take a few minutes to fill in this questionnaire for me. This will help me ensure I’m giving my clients what they want. Pretty please and thank you!
And if you have a little time on Sunday, I’m running a focus group - if you happen to have 30 minutes to just be able to talk about your experience in the fitness industry (as someone aged 38-55), your likes and dislikes workout wise etc, I would love to chat with you. It’ll take place on Google Meet, this Sunday (21st) at 1:30pm EST / 6:30pm UK time. If you’re available, reply to this email and I’ll send you the link. THANK YOU!
You should upgrade to the paid edition of The Murmuration because…
On Monday’s edition of the letter, I’ll be talking about imposter syndrome, being a beginner and how to overcome the doubts so you can just get on with being a bad bitch. Upgrade to the paid edition and join me!
Your Weekly Biggie Smalls (P)update
This week, Biggie would like to remind you that there’s a time for action and a time for snuggling and the snuggling should never be ignored. It’s not laziness, it’s necessity. Without snuggles, when we try to be in action mode, we can’t do it at full force, because we’re not rested in our bones. And how will you ever be able to do your high performance zoomies at the park without sufficient snuggle time, Biggie asks.
Until next week; smile at strangers, spread good vibes, be nice to people.
