Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with Mitsuko Tattori, who in April of this year, became the first female CEO of Japan Airlines. It’s a bit crazy to read the words ‘first female’ anything when it’s the year TWO THOUSAND AND TWENTY FOUR, but alas, we hail a victory when we get one.
Ms Tattori is a former flight attendant with the company and now joins the less than 1% of Japan’s top companies lead by women. The funny thing here being that of the previous 10 male CEOs of the company, the majority of them were educated at one of Japan’s most prestigious universities while Ms Tattori graduated from a women’s only junior college and her direct experience as a flight attendant has likely made her more equipped and qualified for the job than any of her predecessors. Congrats to her on this big leap forward.
Things that caught my eye this week
Want to be more productive but you’re actually kinda lazy? This article has some great tips for that. I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m lazy but I’m for sure guilty of procrastinating or kicking the ball around in my head about how to start something sometimes - I’m definitely gonna try a couple of these tips.
Food for thought
Progress is happening even when it doesn’t feel like it. The moves forward aren’t always giant leaps with celebratory fireworks. Sometimes they’re just quiet whispers. Sometimes the win is in the mere fact that you made it through a day where you wanted to quit everything. Every day you don’t give up is progress. You string enough of those days together, and you get where you want to be.
You should upgrade to the paid version of The Murmuration because…
In Monday’s paid letter, I’m talking about trying to develop the art of doing nothing and how rare it is that we actually get to do that these days. I had a day recently where I made that my focus and wow, what a difference it made. Is it possible for us to ever really take time to disconnect or are we too committed to our distractions? And more importantly, what are those distractions really distracting us from?
What I’ve been up to
I’ve likely mentioned in this newsletter a couple of times that I’ve been part of a business pre-accelerator for the past three months. What an incredible learning opportunity it all was. I have emerged from it with a rock solid business plan, some sexy financial projections and a really tight five minute pitch. I am more committed than ever to take STUDIO BANGS to infinity and beyond! While I didn’t win the $10K grand prize on pitch night, I did win a $1000 prize voted for by my fellow cohort members, which was super special.
This is my five minute pitch and this is the link to it on Instagram - I would love it if you could share it far and wide as I look for funding to take STUDIO BANGS to the next level. Thank you!
