Greetings, you beautiful souls.
Well firstly, let me say thank you for the reception last week’s newsletter received. I shared what a crappy time October had been for me, where, among other things, I left my mentally and emotionally abusive relationship a month before I was due to get married.
The number of messages I received from women saying they’d been through something similar kind of knocked me for six. That has led me to one resounding question bouncing around my head since all this kicked off, which is;
What in the fuck is going on with men?
Seriously.
It is simultaneously comforting and terrifying to know you’re not the only one who’s been through something like this. Part of the very nature of it is that it can feel very isolating. Then you realise there’s this whole kind of unspoken underworld of this insane shit happening. Legions of women suffering in silence, being gaslit, feeling like they’re crazy or imagining it.
I fear if I really start writing about how men are socialised to believe treating women this way is acceptable and reaffirms their masculinity, I may never stop and will likely end up throwing my laptop out a window. So, I’ll leave that there.
In the paid edition of this newsletter, a couple of weeks back, I wrote a bit more about my experience. It feels safer to do that behind a pay wall right now. I say that to say, if you or someone you know is experiencing mental and emotional abuse at the hands of their partner, it may be worth a read. I know I had no idea what the signs were, I was too deep in it to understand fully what was happening until I stepped away.
If you are going through it, please know that thankfully and unfortunately, you are not alone. Do whatever you need to do to keep yourself safe and sane.
My inbox is always open, if you need to share.
What would you like to see more of?
So, I started this newsletter back around February. My longer form, in-depth stuff will always go in the paid edition of the newsletter. Up until now, I’ve usually put links to interesting things I’ve read around the interweb that week in these Thursday editions, perhaps with a few uplifting stories about women 35+. But having looked at the data, no one is really clicking on those links. So, it makes sense for me to no longer make that an element of what I’m doing here.
I really want to make this something worth your time, so I thought it best to come right to the source and ask what you would like to see more of.
I think what I’m typically known for in these internet streets is inspirational/motivation type stuff. With my life coaching business taking off more and more, I’m wondering if people would appreciate a bit more of a lean towards that kind of content?
Anyhoo, I’d love to hear from you. Let me know what you’d like to see, what would be of value to you, what’s not going to annoy you coming into your inbox once a week.
I’d really love the feedback.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Your Weekly Biggie Smalls (P)update
This week, Biggie would like to remind you that rest is a necessity and does not need to be earned. He’s a wise one, that pup.
Until next week, smile at strangers, spread good vibes, be nice to people.
I just want to say how much I LOVE your blog and newsletter and I'm so glad I pay for the subscription. You're a brilliant writer, Bangs, and speak so much from the heart, which is why I'm so drawn to your stories (and after the heartache you experienced, I'm sure there will be more positive tales to tell from now on!). It turns out that I'm one of the few that like the curated articles you include in your newsletter! I love reading motivating stories from other women so please keep them coming? Maybe a feature like, your 'article of the week' or 'podcast of the week'? Yasmine x
