Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with Allyson Felix, highly decorated Olympic champion and all around track and field baddie, who has announced she is launching a women’s sports management firm, Always Alpha. Felix has always been an outspoken advocate for women in sports and this step into sports management is such a power move.
“We created Always Alpha to revolutionise women’s sports by moving beyond outdated, one-size-fits-all models designed with male athletes in mind,” says Felix’s business partner, Cosette Chaput. “These traditional frameworks, tied to contracts and templated endorsements, fail to recognize the unique strengths and potential of female athletes, coaches and broadcasters.”

Things that caught my eye this week
Post the re-election of the Orange-in-Chief last week in the US, Google searches of ‘4B’ have apparently skyrocketed. If you’re unfamiliar, 4B is a movement that originated in South Korea which essentially involves no sex, marriage, dating or having children with men. This article is definitely worth a read, if only to see the financial impacts the choices of South Korean women involved in this movement have had on certain economies there. Sure, it can be seen as extreme, but when there are now men running rampant saying things like ‘Your body, my choice!’, coupled with stats of how unmarried women live longer and tend to be happier, plus so much anecdotal evidence from women realising that they often thrive far more in their singledom than in a relationship with a man, is it actually such a radical choice?
Food for thought
If it keeps coming up again and again, it’s time to take action. If you find you’ve had the same conversation over and over, you’re journaling on that same topic, it’s got you caught in an endless thought loop - it will not change until you take the next steps. Be it starting that business, leaving that job, breaking off that relationship, you can only talk about it so much. The only thing that leads to actual change, is action. Less talking, more doing.

In Monday’s letter, I’m talking about how in this current climate, everything is political and how I am particularly feeling that in my purchasing decisions. How can we use our buying power to make decisions that feel morally and ethically aligned in a Capitalist system where it feels like these things barely make a dent?
