Kicking it off this week with Cassie Ventura. Last week, Cassie filed a civil suit against her ex-boyfriend, P Diddy, alleging sex trafficking, rape and abuse, spanning years. Diddy settled the lawsuit in less than 24 hours, suggesting that he did everything the suit claimed and likely more. The bravery it takes to come forward about abuse, any abuse, but especially when it was on such an awful scale for a prolonged period - I’m in awe of Cassie’s strength. I hope the money she receives provides her with a deeper level of protection and peace.

Things that caught my eye this week
I really connected with this piece in Wired about first-gen social media users having nowhere to go. It breaks down how times have changed with social media - our usage, engagement and interest, along with the deeper root of what drove us to it in the first place are all adapting at rapid pace and a lot of us just don’t know if we want to keep up with it in that way anymore.
I feel somewhat tied to my online life and it’s not that I dislike that, but I think the way we all interact online has absolutely negatively impacted in-person friendships and community in a way that I’m not sure we’ll be able to turn around. That is definitely something I want to put more energy and effort into in the coming year.
Food for thought
You have been the pebble that started the ripple. Because of something you said, did, planned or started, it activated a chain reaction of goodness that has put some betterness into the world.
Someone met the love of their life at a party you hosted. Or found a job because you had a friend who knew someone in their industry. Or you gave them a recipe for a vegetarian chilli that is now their favourite winter meal.
Right now, someone is thinking of you and smiling.
Even on your darkest days, remember that you have been the nucleus, the glue that binds together your little corner of the world and makes life better for everyone around you.
Thank you for that.
Your Weekly Biggie (P)update
This week, Biggie would like to remind you of the importance of rest when you hurt yourself (which he may or may not have done, chasing way bigger dogs around the park last weekend). He says you should listen to your body, rest when you need to, take a time out, slow down and seek the help of experts if you need to. Don’t try to push through it, you’ll only make it worse.
Studio Bangs Update
I am working like crazy behind the scenes over here to bring my online fitness studio to life. This week has been a battle with technology on all fronts. Frustration doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of what I’m feeling at the moment. I had hoped to be able to launch this weekend, but technology evidently has other plans.
Every step of this has been such a learning curve. I have felt so out of my depth and there have been more than a few moments where I’ve regretted even starting this - the more hurdles I encounter, the more it energy it takes to overcome them (often involving skills, knowledge or expertise that I just don’t have).
But I’m sure I’m not the first entrepreneur to feel this way and I doubt I’ll be the last.
I will figure it out. I’m learning to be gentle with myself and adjust my expectations as I go.
Assuming I overcome this latest hurdle, I’m hoping to go live the week of December 1st. Keep everything crossed!
Until next week; smile at strangers, spread good vibes, be nice to people.
