Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
(Yeah, it’s Thursday - though I will forever contend that days during this weird week between Christmas and New Year shouldn’t have names. It’s all too confusing.)
Kicking it off this week with Seven Days in June - a delectable, delightful, damn near perfect read. Several people I know had recommended this so it’d been on my radar for a while and lemme tell ya, it does not disappoint. I took my sweet ass time reading it because it’s so perfect, I didn’t want it to end. It’s one of those reads where you like the characters so much, you just want to stay with them a little longer. Anyhoo, put this at the top of your list of things to read - you won’t regret it.
Things that caught my eye this week
The festive season seems to be the one time of year where rest is accepted, encouraged and indulged in. I have spent the last few months trying to figure out my own relationship with rest and how to not feel guilty about it. I’m not there yet, but I really enjoyed this piece in ELLE about people’s differing approaches to it.
Food for Thought
Reflection at this time of year is necessary. Take time to sit with your pain and your triumphs, your struggles and successes. Get honest with yourself. Acknowledge where you excelled and where you fell short. You cannot outrun or avoid a relationship with yourself and part of building that, often involves being confronted with uncomfortable truths. Whether your year went great or horribly, you need to deconstruct the puzzle pieces that made it that way. Do that and you’ll be starting off next year at a definite advantage.

Your Weekly Biggie Smalls (P)update
As we prepare for a weekend of the last few holiday parties of the season, Biggie, King of Pouts, would like to give you a quick reminder about perfect posing. He recommends an ever-so-subtle head tilt, a deep gaze off into the middle distance and puckering up that pout just the right amount. He assures me, follow these simple steps and the camera will love you.
