Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with the Williams sisters because…well, just because. Do we need a special reason to celebrate them? No we do not. This shoot and article in Harper’s Bizarre is just beautiful. They will forever be inspiring on so many levels.
Things that caught my eye this week
I’m a huge stand up comedy fan. Lately between Dave Chapelle’s shenanigans and Joe Rogan’s fuckery, many-a-debate has been spawned about the role of the comedian. (Side bar: as far as I’m concerned the funniest thing about Joe Rogan is that he’s actually considered to be a comedian by some. Because like, just no.) This article has some interesting insights, dancing around the general ideas of the now rampant self-importance of some comedians, the tip-toeing on the line of free speech while raging about the consequences of said speech and the constant decrying of cancel culture, while making endless comedy specials about being cancelled, which in and of itself surely signifies that cancel culture is indeed a myth. Gah!
Food for Thought
Know your worth. Own it. Declare it. And do so proudly, with your whole chest. Don’t umm and ahh about it. Don’t shrivel up or get embarrassed. Whether it’s negotiating a salary or putting a boundary in place, stand rooted in your value. You know the time, energy and work you’ve put in to finding that sense of worth. You are allowed to walk away from people who question it, don’t understand it or do their best to undermine it. Let your worth be your barometer - if a person, place or situation chips away at it, they don’t get your time. It took you a long time to get here. So know your worth. Own it, declare it and protect it at all costs.

On Monday’s paid version of the newsletter, I’m going to be talking about *heavy sigh* attempting to get back into dating after one of the most traumatic relationships of your life, when you’re 40, have zero desire to have kids, live in a place where people marry their high school sweethearts and have to once again navigate the hellscape that is dating apps. You don’t wanna miss all that fun, right?!
Your Weekly Biggie Smalls (P)update
This week, Biggie wants to remind you to check in on your friends. Yes, even the really strong ones who seem like they have it all together, especially those ones. Send the text, leave the voice note, send some flowers, surprise them with a gift card to their favourite coffee place. The little gestures make a huge difference.
Until next week, smile at strangers, spread good vibes, be nice to people.
