Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with Serena Williams dancing at the Super Bowl Half Time Show, during Kendrick Lamar’s performance. By way of a very brief explainer as to why this was an important cultural moment; Serena dated Drake for a nanosecond, years ago. He then, for some unknown reason, dissed her in a track of his yeeaaarrrsss later (like, get over it, dude). Kendrick had a (now famous) beef with Drake last year (that I think it’s safe to say, will last an eternity) that involved the back and forth of many diss tracks between the two - Kendrick emerging the clear victor with his hit, ‘Not Like Us.’
Kendrick was announced as the half time performer at the Super Bowl, while Drake was busying himself filing all sorts of lawsuits because his feelings were hurt over the success of ‘Not Like Us.’ So for Kendrick to perform ‘Not Like Us’ (a song where he openly calls Drake a pedophile) at one of the most watched events of the year AND have Serena pop up out of nowhere, crip-walking to a song that rips her ex to shreds, was like a global bat signal to women worldwide that sometimes, you can get the last word in phenomenal fashion.
An epic level of pettiness and we salute it, Ms Williams.
Things that caught my eye this week
As en elder millennial who remembers all too well the chaos that Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt brought to The Hills, this article about how they’re navigating life after their house burned down in the LA Fires has really reframed this tabloid-era couple in a refreshingly nice light. What they’re going through sounds awful and I must say, I absolutely did not expect their relationship to still be going strong all these years later. I certainly didn’t expect to find myself rooting for them in 2025.
Food for thought
A reminder; your biggest breakthroughs usually come after some turmoil. You spend some time wrestling with yourself, convincing yourself you don’t have what it takes, making a really long cons list, wallowing in a dark night of the soul. And when you’ve done all that, your courage will always emerge and remind you who you are. You are made of strong stuff. You have what it takes - you always do.
You should subscribe to the paid edition of The Murmuration because…
Well, speaking of breakthroughs, I had one myself last week that has reframed the way I look at life and I’m excited to share that nugget with you.

Your Weekly Biggie Smalls (p)Update
This week, Biggie wants to remind you to always find the sunny spot. Now matter how cold, no matter how cloudy - the sunny spot may well be metaphorical, but allow yourself to carve out a space, be it physical or mental, where you can feel warmth, allow things to slow down a little bit, give yourself the reminder that no matter what is going on, the sun will still rise tomorrow.
Until next week; smile at strangers, spread good vibes, be nice to people.
