Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with this tweet I came across from @rebeccasolnit. I caught Covid last week. Frankly, I’m amazed it took this long to get to me, but thankfully I got away with a very mild case. Even so, I found the main thing was tiredness and I fought and fought and fought that need for rest, constantly feeling guilty about not working or being productive and then I read this, surrendered to sleep and feel a million times better. So, if you needed to read those words today, please do so and take heed. We are entitled to rest, GODDAMNIT!
Things that caught my eye this week
You know I love me some historical bad bitches. I was thrilled to come across this article about a new book about photographs of groups of men that contain only one woman. The pictures in the book span from 1862- 2020 and were taken in 20 countries. Some of these pics and the accompanying stories are truly awesome - definitely worth checking out.
Food for Thought
Check in on your strong friend today. Ask how they’re doing, ask it sincerely and hold space for a true answer. Let them know that’s what you want. Radical honesty, radical vulnerability, zero expectation for them to have their shit together. Just be there, listen, sprinkle in plenty of reassuring head nods. It’ll mean more than you know.

On Monday’s paid edition of the letter, I’m talking about age discrimination in the workplace. After a longtime Canadian news anchor was let go recently for ceasing to dye her hair and letting her natural (and very beautiful, I might add) grey hair live its best life, I am once again renewed with rage about this kind of shit and the patriarchy in general. The reality is, once we’re over 40, in certain work environments, it would seem there’s a target on our backs. How and when will this ever change? How do we ensure it does? Join me on Monday for the revolution, babes.
Your Weekly Biggie Smalls (P)update
This week, Biggie would like to remind you that you are a really beautiful creature and that thing you’re self conscious about is the thing someone else loves you for.
Until next week, smile at strangers, spread good vibes, be nice to people.
