Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with Katherine Ryan. In a week following the Russell Brand allegations (that no one seems to be surprised about), Katherine Ryan appears to be one of the few people in the industry to have actually called him out. She referred to him as a ‘predator’ when they were both on Comedy Central’s Roast Battle in 2018. That footage never made it to air apparently, but Brand was kicked off the show.
To stick your head above the crowd, as a woman, and risk your career and opportunities is a big deal. It’s brave and takes a whole lot of gumption to stand in that in an industry and culture that historically doesn’t stand by women.
So kudos to Katherine Ryan and to all the women who’ve accused Brand, either publicly or anonymously. The tides continue to turn because of their bravery.
Things that caught my eye this week
This article about how old people are hot now made me giggle. But it raises some really good points that I’ve talked about on here before - about how we’re ageing differently now to our grandparents generation. Advances in skincare, fitness and nutrition, plus fewer people smoking and just generally people looking after themselves better, means we’re all looking better as we age.
We still have a long way to go before attitudes and discourse around ageing change. It will take a while for the perception of ageing being ‘yucky’ or something to be fearful of to calm down, but it’s interesting to watch this shift in action.
Food for thought
Go where your energy flows. Everything feels so much better when you do.
If there’s resistance, hesitancy, reluctance or nervousness around something, it just isn’t for you anymore. Stop trying to force it. Go where the light is guiding you. Stop ignoring the signs.
It all starts to come together when you just listen to that inner voice that’s gently guiding you to where you were meant to be all along.
