Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with a lil shout out to the Sex in the City reboot (and yes, that is what I will forever call it). Sure, there were eye rolling and problematic moments, yes some of it was a cheese fest, but all in all, I’ve gotta say, I’d be down for a second season. Hurrah for a show that’s showing women in their fifties with rich, full lives. Yes to dating, yes to going back to school, yes to questioning your sexuality and switching your life up if you feel like it. These are important narratives, ones that so often don’t get showcased for women. Go ‘head, Carrie and crew! (But also, please stop trying it with these callbacks to Samantha - how many times does this woman have to say she’s done with you?!)
Things that caught my eye this week
I came across this article about how to ‘be bad, better’ at the start of the year. With headings like ‘be less mindful’, ‘abandon meaningfulness’ and ‘care less’, there was a strong ‘huh?! What?!’ reaction in me initially, but many great points are made in here and it gave me lots to think about.
Food for Thought
You matter.
Your existence makes someone’s soul happy. That smile you gave to a random stranger made their day better. Your ability to overcome has inspired someone to keep fighting their battle. Your courage has given someone else hope. Right now, someone is thinking about a laugh they shared with you and chuckling quietly to themselves at the memory.
You matter. You are a forever VIP. I hope you remember on the days you feel insignificant, that you are so very far from ever being that.
You should subscribe to the paid edition of The Murmuration because…
On Monday’s paid edition of The Murmuration, I’ll be talking about how your body is always talking to you. It’s always telling you what’s going on. It gives us signals all the time but we routinely ignore and dismiss them, pretend they don’t matter and that we can just override them. That headache, that sore shoulder, the rash you keep getting - girl, pay attention! It’s time we tune in to our bodies.
Your Weekly Biggie Smalls (P)Update
Today Biggie wants to remind you that the thing you think you’re obligated to do is likely something that you’ve convinced yourself is an obligation and no one is expecting of you and you could probably delegate it to someone else and they’d be fine with that, so you should probably do that. He’s a wise one, that Biggie.
Until next week, smile at strangers, spread good vibes, be nice to people.
