Happy Thursday ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with WNBA star Brittney Griner, who has been detained in a Russian prison since mid-February. Russian officials are reportedly investigating her for possession of vape cartridges that contained hash oil. This apparently carries a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years. I can think of few worse fates than spending 10 years in a Russian prison. And I imagine if we were looking at a white, male, American sports star here, this would’ve been front page news every day since his arrest. All that to say; FREE BRITTNEY.
Things that caught my eye this week
Not that I’m super knowledgeable about art, but you know Jackson Pollock’s signature style? Turns out he didn’t invent it at all. It was pioneered by a Ukrainian woman called Janet Sobel who’s just been written out of history. Grr! Anyway, fascinating story. Check it out.
Food for thought
Spring is about to get to Springing and maybe it’s time you did too. Whatever the thing is you need to take action on, do it. Whatever the change is you’ve been putting off, change it. Paint your bedroom a different colour, cut your hair, write that angry letter to your local politician, overturn your desk and throw all your papers in the air. If you’re in a funk, it’s time to defunkify yourself. If the winds of change have been a-blowing, you don’t need for them to reach gale force before you take the hint. It might be uncomfortable, it might be scary- cool. Let it be. You can handle it. Have some faith in yourself, would ya?
