Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with Erykah Badu’s Met Gala look. Designed by MARNI designer, Francesco Risso, this look has the internet torn. Here’s what I appreciate: Ms Badu’s quirkiness and style comes out in everything she does. One of the cornerstones of my own personal style is my acrylic nails and big rings, so it’s safe to say Badu’s ring game alone, makes her iconic in my eyes. I am OBSESSED with everything that is happening on her hands here. Delightful. And hell, the Met Gala is all about pushing boundaries and if ever there’s a time to be completely over the top, this is it. Kudos, Badu. Job well done.
Things that caught my eye this week
I feel like this is on the verge of becoming a women’s basketball newsletter, but shucks, whatever, another story about women’s basketball caught my eye this week. Mainly because, despite the rising popularity of the women’s game, the players themselves are not seeing any financial benefit from that. Often women players have to play overseas in the off season to supplement their income (that’s why Britney Griner was in Russia and…well, we all know what happened there).
Food for Thought
If you’re constantly making decisions that appease you in the moment, rather than benefit your long term goal, part of the process of working towards the highest version of yourself is cultivating a better decision making process. The growth comes in these tiny moments, these small decisions that you might not feel the benefit of til further down the road. What’s a small decision you can make today that benefits your long term goal?
You should subscribe to the paid version of The Murmuration because…
On Monday’s paid version of The Murmuration, I’m talking about the notion that child-free by choice people regret their decision in their 40s and 50s and are sitting around full of regret and loneliness. I’ve gotta say, as a 42 year old happily child-free woman, that certainly hasn’t kicked in for me, but we need to address this weird obsession people seem to have with what we’re choosing to not do with our wombs. I saw this post last week of Chescaleigh describing motherhood as ‘the original MLM’ and Lordy…the accuracy. Why oh why can’t we just all respect people’s (VERY PERSONAL) decisions? Subscribe and join me on Monday to weigh in with your thoughts!
Your Weekly Biggie Smalls (P)update
This week, Biggie would like to encourage you to stare at yourself in a window and contemplate life, The Universe and what it all means. Or maybe you just think about how damn good you look. Either way, Biggie makes this part of his morning routine and he must not be disturbed during this intense period of self reflection.
