Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
I’m not a Disney girly, but I am loving seeing all the positive reviews flood in for the revamp of A Little Mermaid. Between science bros trying to actually seriously debate how a make-believe underwater creature couldn’t possibly be black and red heads lamenting the erasure of fair-skinned red heads because of the casting of Halle Bailey as Ariel, it’s very satisfying to see these morons seethe as more videos of little black. girls absolutely delighting in seeing themselves reflected on screen pop up online.
In just under two weeks since opening, the current box office intake is sitting at almost $330 million. Here’s hoping we continue to see the tides turn in terms of casting and representation.
Things that caught my eye this week
A couple of weeks ago, I binged a series called Love & Death on HBO. I put it on initially just as background noise while I did some chores, but I soon stopped everything as the storyline sucked me in. This is the true story of Candy Montgomery, a Texas housewife in the 1980s, who was accused of murdering her best friend with an axe. And well…my jaw is still recovering from being on the floor so long. I had never heard of this case before and since watching the series, I’ve been reading anything I can get my hands on about it. Highly recommend. FASCINATING.
Food for thought
Avoidance is not your friend. Your anxiety and tension over a situation will only dissipate when you confront it. You can do that in baby steps, you can do it gently, you can do it with kindness or while you’re scared, but you do have to do it.
Avoiding it is not helping you. The sooner you step up and confront it, the sooner you reach a resolution. Then the easier it is to breathe, the lighter you feel, the clearer your focus becomes. Stop avoiding. Stop procrastinating. Stop wishing it would go away. Resolution is in your hands. Take charge.
You should subscribe to the paid edition of The Murmuration because…
On Monday’s paid version of the newsletter, I’m talking about celebrating milestones and how we need to start celebrating the non-traditional ones. For too long the only things that have been celebrated for women involve the engagement, wedding, baby pipeline. With more and more of us choosing lifestyles that may never involve any of those things, when do we get celebrated? And not with a ‘congrats’ tweet or text, with the same vigour with which we have shown up time and again for the celebration of others. Subscribe to the paid edition and come debate with me on Monday.
Your Weekly Biggie Smalls (P)update
This week, Biggie would like to remind you of the importance of frolicking. He assures me a good frolic cannot be beaten in a delightful grassy patch on warm, sunny day. And what is a frolic but an outward manifestation of the good vibes you feel inside? Enjoy!

If you, like me, struggle with drinking enough water, I highly recommend investing in a water bottle like this. I got mine about a month ago and am now a well hydrated kween. This is a 2L bottle. I go through this whole bottle every day, plus whatever I drink during my workouts. The bottle has been the game changer. Embarrassingly, I would be lucky if I’d drink a glass or two of water before this. It’s amazing what being properly hydrated can do. Truly, I feel great.
I’m doing a lot of reading this year to build up a library of references I can pass on to coaching clients of mine. Chatter by Ethan Kross is well worth a read. I found some very impactful gems in this one.
