Happy Thursday, ya beauties!
Kicking it off this week with Pamela Anderson because I’m outraged at myself for not posting about her a couple of weeks ago. During Paris Fashion Week, Ms Anderson rocked up to several events wearing no makeup. It seems silly that it was such a big deal but hell, it was a muthaf*ckin’ STATEMENT, OK? For her to embrace ageing naturally, to reject societal pressures of femininity and perfection, and to do so on such a public stage? Just wow. What a moment. I love her for this. And I truly think she looks stunning. Her skin is immaculate. May we all have the courage to embrace our natural beauty in this way.
Things that caught my eye this week
Since we are now officially in sweater weather, I’ve seen more and more discourse online about the quality of sweaters. This is a conversation me and my mum have a lot - the lack lustre quality of clothes now, compared to back in the day, and this is particularly evident in sweaters in recent years. This article in The Atlantic does a deep dive into the reasons behind that and if you’re a bit of a nerd about fast fashion and its environmental impacts etc, it’s a good read.
Food for thought
What if they haven’t given the situation another thought? What if you spend all this time thinking about it, replaying it, manufacturing different scenarios around it in your head - all the ways it could’ve played out differently. Meanwhile, it never crosses their mind. They’ve moved on. They’re living their life. So where does that leave you? How can you refocus and better be spending your time?
Maybe, just maybe, they aren’t worth the energy.
You should subscribe to the paid edition of The Murmuration because….
On Monday’s edition of The Murmuration, I’m talking about what it takes to maintain friendships that span time and distance. The nature of friendships naturally change as we age, sure, but add to it now that we are all pretty constantly online, surrounded by discourse around boundaries, what’s acceptable and what isn’t, how you should cut people off for minor infractions or distance yourself over the smallest slight. When it seems like the friendship rule book is constantly being updated, how do you stay true to those friendships you really do want to maintain?
