Watching your parents age is a funny ol’ thing. I love seeing my parents in their retirement era; not having to worry about work or kids, just getting to explore who they are now. There’s a weird sadness to it all too - like there’s a countdown clock running somewhere. You become acutely aware that the time you have with them is not infinite.

I find myself now being more curious about my parents than ever.

My mother is struggling with retirement. She’s not one for sitting around, she likes to stay busy, so she’s taken on a part time job at a clothing store, which she loves and is exceptionally good at. My father, who would be utterly lost without my mother, just builds his life around her. He walks her to work and picks her up, he’s very invested in all the shop gossip. It’s quite adorable really.
