Last Sunday morning, as I finished up my spin class, getting ready to go home, one of my riders came in and said there was a toddler in a car out front by themselves.
I went out and checked. Yup, there was definitely a kid in there. She seemed happy enough, chilling, playing with a toy. Still, not ideal.
In the building where I teach spin, there’s a dance school for kids, so I figured I’d find the parent somewhere in there. I went into their studio and asked a group of parents in the waiting room if they knew whose car it was as there was a kid in there by themselves. All the mothers looked shocked, they didn’t know who would do such a thing. Another mother said she’d wait by the car while I looked for the parent.
I ran upstairs to the other studio, said the same thing to the waiting room full of mothers and one woman, who was bouncing a child on her knee said ‘Oh yeah, that’s mine,’ as she got up, took her child by the hand and calmly walked out to the car, got in and drove away.
