I heard that phrase a lot growing up; ‘I have no regrets’. It was always said by people much older than me and I think even back then, I was side-eyeing people who said it and mumbling ‘really?’ under my breath.
I like the idea in theory; that you live your life unashamedly, learning from each experience that has brought you exactly where you are now - ‘cause it all needed to happen that way in order for you to get here, right? Everything happens for a reason and all that.
But I find my views on that shifting as I get older. At 44, I currently find myself going through an immense period of growth; a move to another big city, a job that is requiring me to expand into deeper parts of myself, reconnecting with old friends. And it’s a good place to be, but not without its challenges.
