God, I love me a low maintenance friendship.
I’m lucky to be blessed with a good amount of them.
I have a bunch of friends whom, no matter how much time passes, no matter how long we haven’t seen each other, when we do, we pick up exactly where we left off.
Most of those friends are ones I’ve known for a decade or more. Obviously these bonds are forged in a shared history, an understanding of each other’s timelines, lots of in-person hours clocked. We’ve seen each other at our worst, we’ve been there for the breakups, we’ve laughed over our family dramas. We’ve had sleepovers, sweated next to each other on dance floors, annoyed wait staff by being the last people to leave a restaurant ‘cause we were so caught up in conversation.
